NuRoad Insurance Quote - User Guide

Getting Started

Welcome to the NuRoad Insurance Quote application! This web-based form helps you quickly generate insurance quotes for your snowmobiles and ATVs in Manitoba.

Navigating the Form

The form is organized into 6 sections accessible via the wizard navigation bar at the top:

• Policy - Effective date and province
• Insured - Your personal information
• Claims - At-fault accidents and violations
• History - Insurance history
• Experience - Years of experience, safety course, deductible
• Vehicles - Add and configure your snowmobiles/ATVs

Click any section pill to jump directly to it, or use the Next and Back buttons at the bottom of each section. Completed sections show a solid blue indicator, the active section pulses, and future sections are locked until previous ones are complete.

What You'll Need

• Policy effective date
• Personal contact information (name, email, phone, address)
• Claims and violations history (past 5 years)
• Insurance history details
• Experience with snowmobiles and/or ATVs
• Vehicle details: type, value, year, make/model, serial number, plate (if applicable)
• Primary operator information for each vehicle

Browser Requirements

This application works best on modern browsers:

• Microsoft Edge (recommended)
• Google Chrome
• Firefox
• Safari (desktop and mobile)

eSignature (Sign Now)

Send your quote for electronic signature directly from the summary sidebar.

Options

• In-person: Generates a signing link and opens it in a new tab so you can hand the device to the customer or share the link.
• Email: Sends a signature request to the insured's email address.
• Text (SMS): Sends a signature request to the insured's mobile number.

Requirements

• Quote total must be greater than $0.
• Email address required for in-person and email sends.
• Phone number required for text sends.
• Same eligibility rules as sharing: required fields completed, DUI must be No, and total incidents must be 3 or fewer.

What happens

• The app generates a PDF of your quote on the server and sends it to Formstack Sign.
• In-person: a signing link is displayed and opened in a new tab for immediate signing.
• Email/SMS: the signer receives a request to review and sign; you see a success message when it is sent.

Policy Information

Policy Effective Date

Select the date you want your insurance coverage to begin. Click the calendar icon or type the date directly in YYYY-MM-DD format.

Province

Currently locked to Manitoba. This program is specifically designed for Manitoba residents.

Insured Information

Enter your personal details. All fields marked with * are required.

Name

• First Name: Your legal first name
• Last Name: Your legal last name

Your full name will automatically populate as the Primary Operator for your first vehicle. You can change this if needed.

Contact Information

• Email: Must be a valid email address (e.g., you@example.com). We'll send your quote here.
• Phone: Enter 10 digits. The form will auto-format it as (123) 456-7890.

Address

• Address: Street address. Start typing and select from suggestions if autocomplete is enabled.
• Town/City: Your municipality
• Postal Code: Canadian postal code in A1A 1A1 format (auto-formatted)

Claims & Violations (Past 5 Years)

Accurate reporting is essential for your quote and policy validity.

At-Fault Accidents

Select the number of at-fault accidents you've had in the past 5 years (0 to 4+).

Violations/Convictions

Select the number of traffic violations or convictions in the past 5 years (0 to 4+).

Alcohol/Drug Violations (Past 15 Years)

Have you had any alcohol or drug-related violations in the past 15 years?

Clean Record Confirmation

If you select 0 for both at-fault accidents and violations, you must check the confirmation box to proceed with printing or emailing your quote.

Insurance History

Policy Cancellation/Decline

Has any insurance policy ever been cancelled, declined, or refused for you?

• If No, continue to the next section.
• If Yes, provide the reason, previous insurer name, and any loss payable information.

Experience & Use

Years of Experience

Select your experience level:

• Snowmobile Experience: Years you've operated snowmobiles (0 to 25+)
• ATV Experience: Years you've operated ATVs (0 to 25+)

Pleasure Use Only

Are you using the vehicle(s) for pleasure only, or for commercial/business purposes?

Safety Course

Have you completed a recognized safety course?

• Yes: Receive a 5% discount on your premium
• No: Standard rate applies

Deductible Option

Choose your deductible level using the visual card selector (affects your premium):

• GOOD - $1000 (+0%): Standard deductible (no extra cost)
• BETTER - $750 (+7.5%): Adds 7.5% to your premium
• BEST - $500 (+10.0%): Adds 10% to your premium

Lower deductibles mean higher premiums but less out-of-pocket cost if you need to make a claim. Click the card that best fits your needs—the selected card will highlight with a colored border matching the tier.

Vehicle Details

You can insure up to 3 vehicles on one quote. Click + Add Another Vehicle to add more.

Basic Vehicle Information

• Type: Select Sled (Snowmobile) or ATV
• Value: Enter the purchase price or current market value in Canadian dollars (e.g., 12000). The form will format it as $12,000.
• Year: Model year of the vehicle
• Make, Model & CC: Brand, model name, and engine size. Start typing to see suggestions from our catalog (e.g., "Ski-Doo MXZ X 850cc").
• Serial Number: VIN or serial number (typically 17 characters, but enter what's on the unit)
• Plate: License plate number, if applicable. Providing a plate number removes the 7% PST from the quote (assuming taxes were paid upon registration).

Additional Options

• Date of Sale: Select the date you purchased the vehicle. If the date is within the last 7 days, the vehicle qualifies as "Brand New" for the Green Rating Credit (GRC).
• Snopass: Do you have a Snopass membership? (Yes/No) — earns you a Safe Rider discount

Vehicle Operators

For each vehicle, provide operator details. You can add a Second Operator by toggling the switch in the operator section.

• Name: Full name of the operator (auto-filled from insured name for first vehicle)
• Driver's License #: Operator's driver's license number
• Date of Birth: Operator's DOB in YYYY-MM-DD format

If a Second Operator is added, the premium is calculated based on the highest risk rating between the two operators.

Premium Breakdown (Per Vehicle)

Click Premium Breakdown under each vehicle to see how the line premium is calculated:

• Base Rate
• Deductible adjustment
• 50+ Discount (if operator is 50+)
• Safety Course discount
• Safe Rider (Snopass) discount
• RC (Brand New vehicle)
• Claims Surcharge
• Line Total

Removing Vehicles

Click the Remove button on any vehicle (except the first) to delete it from your quote.

Quote Summary & Actions

The right-hand sidebar (or bottom of the page on mobile) shows your total quote in real-time.

Summary Totals

• Premium (all vehicles): Sum of all vehicle line premiums
• Taxes (7%): Manitoba provincial tax (applied only if no plate is provided)
• Total: Total premium amount

Actions

• Share Quote: Opens a share modal with Print to PDF, Email, Text, copy-link, and QR options (details in Sharing & Export).
• Sign Now: Opens the eSignature menu (in-person, email, or text). See eSignature for requirements.
• Reset Quote: Clears all saved data from your browser after confirmation.

Keyboard Shortcuts

• Next Section: Ctrl/Cmd + N (uses the same validation and save flow as the Next button)
• Back Section: Ctrl/Cmd + B
• Open Share: Ctrl/Cmd + S

Auto-Save & Data

How Auto-Save Works

The form automatically saves your progress to your browser's local storage every time you make a change (after a short delay).

• A small indicator at the top of the summary shows "Saving…" then "Saved just now" with a timestamp.
• Your data persists even if you close the browser or navigate away.
• When you return, your data is automatically loaded.

Data Privacy

Your data is stored securely in your browser to ensure your progress is never lost.

Clearing Data

To remove all saved data:

1. Click Clear Saved Data in the summary section
2. Confirm the action
3. The page will reload with a fresh, empty form

Sharing & Export

Share Modal (Share Quote button)

• Print as PDF: Generates a server-side PDF and opens it in a new tab.
• Email: Send the quote to any email address you enter.
• Text (SMS): Send the quote link via text message.
• Copy Link & QR: Copy a shareable URL and scan/download a QR code.
• Redact personal info when sharing: Toggle in the settings menu to strip names, contact info, and serial numbers from the shared link.

Backup Quote

Open the hamburger menu (☰) and click Backup Quote to download a .nuroad file containing all your data. The .nuroad file is JSON; restore it anytime with Restore Quote.

Restore Quote

Select a .nuroad backup to load it. Import overwrites the current form with the backup data.

Troubleshooting

Print/Email Buttons are Disabled

Ensure:

• All required fields in Insured Information are filled (first name, last name, email, phone, address, town, postal code)
• Email is in a valid format
• Phone has exactly 10 digits
• You don't have DUI violations
• You have 3 or fewer total incidents (at-fault accidents + violations)
• If you selected 0 for both accidents and violations, the confirmation checkbox is checked

Autosave Not Working

• Check that your browser allows local storage (not in private/incognito mode)
• Clear your browser cache and reload the page
• Try a different browser

Address Autocomplete Not Working

Address suggestions require a valid Google Places API key. If suggestions don't appear, you can still type your address manually.

Make/Model Suggestions Not Appearing

• Ensure you've selected a Type (Sled or ATV)
• Type at least 2 characters
• Check spelling (e.g., "Ski-Doo" not "Skidoo")

Dark Mode Issues

Toggle dark mode in the settings menu (☰). The app also respects your system dark mode preference automatically.
